This BladeCenter 2-port Fiber Channel Switch Module option is similar to the Ethernet switch, but contains two Fiber Channel connections capable of supporting up to 2Gbps transmissions. This switch option is required when an HS20 Fiber Channel Expansion Card is installed in one or more BladeCenter HS20s. Each HS20 Fiber Channel Expansion Card contains two Fiber Channel connections supported through installation of either one or two Fiber Channel switch modules. Installation of two BladeCenter 2-port Fiber Channel Switch Module options provides failover redundancy. ??The Fiber Channel switches are installed in network switch module bays 3 and 4 due to the routing of signals from the Fiber Channel card interface to the switch module bays. The Fiber Channel switch contains two small form factor pluggable (SFP) ports that support optionally available long- or short-wave SFP modules and appropriate Fiber Channel cabling. A BladeCenter SAN Utility is provided for switch management.
